SIXT Share

FAQ

Please wait until the relevant authority sends you a payment request directly. The authority that issues the request will obtain your contact details from the owner of the car sharing vehicle in order to identify the car sharing customer who was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the traffic offence. The document you will receive by post contains all the information you need to settle the payment request.

SIXT share & SHARE NOW

You will also be charged a handling fee by SIXT share, which will be settled via hvv switch using the method of payment used for the original booking. Of course, you will also be sent a receipt for this transaction by e-mail as usual.

MILES

The authority first sends MILES the ticket. As soon as you have been identified as a driver, MILES will forward this to the authority. You will then receive the ticket from MILES by e-mail. The original will be sent to you by the fine office by post.

The ticket must be transferred directly to the authority. In addition, MILES will charge you a processing fee, which we will debit from your deposited payment method.

WeShare

The authority will contact WeShare. WeShare will contact you directly to clarify the details. Here you can find an overview of all relevant expense allowances at WeShare.

e-Scooter

Also in the case of TIER or Voi, it may be that a fine is levied for an administrative offence. They will then come to you. The cost of additional fees can be found here.

If you receive a parking ticket and you don’t think it is justified, your best option is to contact the sender of the ticket, i.e. the issuing authority, directly.

FAQ

To register for a car sharing service, simply select a car in our app. You will then be automatically guided through the necessary steps. Once you have entered your data in the app and had it validated, you can also use other providers directly without having to enter your data again.

The following data is first stored in the app and then validated via a video call:

  • Full name
  • Registration address
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Driving licence data

In addition, a mobile number and at least one payment method (PayPal, debit/credit card or Sepa direct debit bank details) must be stored in the app.

Before renting a vehicle, you must confirm the terms and conditions and data protection regulations of the respective provider and enter your four-digit hvv switch PIN. The PIN is required to book a vehicle. Instead of entering the hvv switch PIN for every booking, you can also authenticate yourself biometrically, for example using FaceID or TouchID.

Please note: The minimum age for using SIXT share and WeShare is 21 years and you must have held a driving licence for at least one year. Please note that a higher minimum age may apply for selected vehicle categories of SIXT share. To use MILES or SHARE NOW, you must be at least 18 years old and have held a valid driving licence for at least one year.

FAQ

The rental may be terminated within the Hamburg business area (exception: MILES vehicles may also be parked in other cities with MILES business area), at a hvv switch point (as long as it is located in the business territory of the respective partner) or, if it is a rented car from SIXT share, at a SIXT rental station (also outside Hamburg in other cities). You must ensure that the car is properly parked in permitted places in the public road space, according to the road traffic regulations for the next 48 hours. The rental may not be terminated in parking zones with parking discs and in residents' parking spaces.

If you want to return your SIXT Share car to a SIXT station, you can find information here.

As a general rule, parking is not permitted in the following locations or areas:

  • In parking garages, underground garages or on other covered parking areas.
  • In private parking lots (parking garage, backyard)
  • In residents' parking lots
  • In parking spaces with time restrictions that still come into effect within 48h after the vehicle is parked (see General Terms and Conditions).
  • In designated parking areas for electric vehicles (exception: e-vehicles)
  • In no-parking areas that are outlined in red on the map in the hvv switch app.

cambio and Dorfstromer offer station-based car sharing, i.e. the start and end of the rental always take place at the same hvv switch point. The rental of cambio and Dorfstromer cars may only ever be ended at the hvv switch point at which the rental was started.

FAQ

You can park in any publicly accessible parking lot (free of charge within the business areas) of a city, the hvv switch points and in the designated areas at Hamburg Airport. In "parking ticket zones" please be sure to use a parking disc. A parking ticket is not required here. In designated "parking disc zones", the parking time is also limited. Please use the parking disc in your car and display it visibly. The rental period cannot be terminated in "parking disc zones", but intermediate parking is possible.

Comprehensive overviews of the basic parking rules can also be found at SIXT share, SHARE NOW and MILES. Familiarize yourself with the parking rules and note that other rules apply outside the Hamburg business area.

Basically, the parking guidelines apply according to the locally valid road traffic regulations.
